If you're here, you probably want one answer: is Mark's Kitchen open on the holiday you're planning around?

Here's the honest answer first. Mark's Kitchen doesn't post holiday hours online that we could find, as of late October 2026. It's a small, family-run spot, and holiday plans are usually decided close to the date. So nobody online can promise you a holiday schedule, including us.

What we can do is show you how each holiday lines up with the regular week, which days are safe bets, and how to confirm in under a minute.

The Regular Schedule

On a normal week, Mark's Kitchen is open Monday to Saturday, 10:30 AM to 8:30 PM, and closed on Sunday.

That Sunday closure matters more than you'd think. When a holiday lands on a Sunday, the restaurant is already closed. No call needed.

Holiday Calendar for 2026 and 2027

This table shows where each holiday falls and what the normal schedule would be that day. The last column is our read on how much to trust it.

"Open" in the third column only means it's a normal business day. It isn't a promise that the restaurant will open on that holiday.

The Big Three: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day

These are the days most likely to bring a change. Across the country, plenty of small, family-owned restaurants close on these holidays so the people running them can spend the day with their own families.

Mark's Kitchen is run by Helen Po's family, and the same family has worked the counter for close to 30 years. It wouldn't be a surprise to find the doors closed on one of these days. It also wouldn't be a surprise to find them open. That's why you call.

Thanksgiving Week Tip

If Mark's Kitchen is part of your Thanksgiving weekend, the safer bet is the Wednesday before (Nov 25) or the Saturday after (Nov 28). Both are normal business days.

Some families are done with turkey by Friday. If that's you, it may be busy, so call your order in early.

Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve

These two land on Thursdays this year. Many restaurants stay open on the eves but close a few hours early so staff can get home.

If you're planning a Christmas Eve dinner around Chinese takeout, don't wait until 8 PM to order. Aim for the early afternoon, and confirm the closing time when you call.

Lunar New Year: Saturday, February 6, 2027

Lunar New Year 2027 falls on a Saturday, which is normally a full business day. It's the Year of the Goat.

Lunar New Year matters to a lot of families with roots in China and across East and Southeast Asia. Some Asian-owned restaurants close for a day or two to celebrate. Others stay open and get busier. We don't know which way Mark's Kitchen goes, so this is another day to check ahead.

How to Confirm in Under a Minute

Here's the quickest way to get a real answer.

  1. Call (559) 454-1438. This is the only reliable source. Call a few days before the holiday, during normal hours, when someone can actually pick up.
  2. Ask two things: "Are you open on [holiday]?" and "What time do you close?" The second question catches early closings.
  3. Check Helen's TikTok. She posts as @heakpo. It's not an official hours page, but it's worth a look for any announcements.

A word of caution about map apps. Google Maps and Yelp sometimes show holiday hours with a note like "hours might differ." Those times aren't always set by the business owner. Don't drive across town based on that alone.

Have your order ready when you call. The counter gets busy, and a quick, clear order is always welcome. Our tips on how to order Chinese takeout in Fresno can help.

Feeding a Holiday Crowd

Holidays usually mean more people at the table. If you're ordering for a group on a day around a holiday, a few things help.

  • Look at the Family Meal. It comes with three large entrees, rice, chow mein, and egg rolls. It's built to feed four people.
  • Order the day before for big orders. Ask if they can take a larger order ahead of time, especially before a busy holiday weekend.
  • Mix the heat levels. Not everyone at a family dinner likes spicy food. Our heat guide sorts the menu from mild to hot.
  • Plan for leftovers. Holiday portions add up fast. Here's how to reheat them so day two still tastes good.

If It's Closed When You Show Up

It happens. If you find the doors locked on a holiday, Belmont has other places to eat. Our guide to East Belmont Ave covers what's nearby. Just know that other small spots may be closed that day, too.
